Lady Bug Design is a family-run business born in 2000. Our woodshop is in the west valley of California 60 miles south of San Francisco. Most of our designs are created using the branches of fruit trees that no longer bear fruit.
We make wood beads from cherry, apricot, plum
and juniper trees and turn them into one-of-a-kind
earrings, bracelets and necklaces with romantic
consideration for where and how the beads rest,
drape and dangle on a woman’s body.
Wood lends itself to nice surprises for the senses.
From the front, you might see a simple row of beads
circling the neck followed by a strand of tiny beads
that trickle down the back and blow a kiss to the
spine. Another design pairs a short row of beads and
a loop of beads to hug the neck as tight or loose as a
silk scarf. For the Greek goddess in every woman, a
necklace of more than 350 wood beads mingle like a
wind chime on the body and tickle the heart chakra.
To give the beads color, we turn to the earth again.
Our palette comes from smashing, soaking and
boiling coconut shells, using colorful spices such as
red chile pepper, and extracting color from bark and
leaves. The resulting pigments range from buttery
browns and deep pomegranate to rainforest orange,
saffron yellow and soft olive green.
Our designs sell for $10 to $250 and can be found at art
show in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Santa Monica, San Francisco and New York, and are currently promoting through Contemporary Crafts Market, Harvest/Original Art, Pacific Fine Arts, MLA, Steven Restivo Event and Team Pro Event. Our work is also featured by stores in Costa Rica, Bermuda, Germany, Japan and Canada and in the following Museums:
National Building Museum, Washington
National Museum Of Woman In The Arts, Washington
Phoenix Museum, Arizona
Portlant Center For Performing Arts, Oregon
